Skinning a Model – Part 1

Level: Intermediate Recorded in: 3ds Max 2011 Files used: areadownloads.autodesk.com Desciption: This movie introduces the concepts of skinning, mainly deforming geometry based on an internal skeleton. There are different approaches to skinning using the Skin modifier. This first part shows how to do basic envelope editing.

@3dsMaxHowTos Sup!
Hey look, I’ve that problem, but I’m not usign bones, I’m? using a Biped… I added the skin modifier to my model, I’ve corrected everysingle bone, and still, it didn’t change ANYTHING realted to how it moved before :S
Any ideas?

Have you made any changes to the hotkey map? Go to the Customize menu and choose Customize User Interface. Browse down the list to “Display as See-Through”. It should be assigned to the Alt+X shortcut. If it’s not, select that entry, click in the Hotkey box on the right and press Alt+X. Click the Assign button. It should be ok now.?

Load/Save functions are in the “Advanced Parameters” rollout. Not a very intuitive tool unless you’re using the? same object or another object with the same topology.
